The 5.1 students are doing a wonderful job of sharing their findings and the actions the learning inspired, with the community of students, educators and parents.
Below are Shabiya, McKayla and Thomas who inquired into animal cruelty in circuses, fashion and in medicine.
I decided to become a vegetarian because I feel really bad for the animals that get killed and they have a right to live. It was hard because everyone else was eating meat and the scent of it makes me regret being a vegetarian. However, I think that eating vegetables make you healthier and I will eat cleaner. I liked being a vegetarian because a little action can change the future.
Another action I did was I drew a painting about Animals used for entertainment so that people will see how cruel people is to animals in circuses and I think that people should buy it because the money goes to ACRES and ACRES is the only wildlife rescue team in Singapore.
I have become a Vegetarian because I am doing things to help animal. I can not hurt animals because if you eat mate the people will kill it because you. I go to a restaurant and just eat vegetables. I didn't see any meat and it was easy for me.
McKayla: My action was to create a website to share our information on animal cruelty.
I drew a drawing about animals getting killed for skin and fur to get people to notice the problem, and another drawing about animals in zoos. We will auction it, and the money we get, will be given to a wildlife rescue center, called ACRES.
View life from the lens of a 10 year old, and it will bring much humour and joy. That sums up my experience with my grade 5 students at ISS.
