Grade 5.1 2017-2018
Last week, we inquired into our personal questions: what is menstruation? how can we keep ourselves clean during our period? What are hormones? what food should we eat during puberty? How can we handle stress during puberty? We shared our findings with the class.
DEBATES: To prepare for our summative assessment, we started debating topics in class. WE made two teams; our first topic of debate was: Computers are useful to us (11 year olds) One team spoke against the topic, and the other in favour of it. It was a heated debate, and the team against computers won by one point.
More debates to follow this week before the summative.
May 31 and June 1: Grade 5 students will spend a day and a half in MS as Grade 6 students to prepare for their transition to the Middle School.
MATH: Exploring Measurement. What is capacity and how is it different from volume?
How are WEIGHT and MASS different?
View life from the lens of a 10 year old, and it will bring much humour and joy. That sums up my experience with my grade 5 students at ISS.
