Today, our class visited the K2s as part of a Christmas celebration. Some of us had made a board game based on the novel that we were reading. Mingyu was in my group and his board game was called: Armour Hero. So we played our boardgames with the little kids. The others who didn’t make a board game borrowed a picture book from the library. They then read the picture book to the kids.
A K2 boy called Joshua played with Mingyu and I. Joshua is a kid from China. He was quiet the whole time when we played but I think he was enjoying it. He won two times! Later, he gave me a painting that he drew. It was very cute! We had a great fun.

BLOG POST OF AN ACE GOALKEEPER. BY HEEGYU
Recently, we had a soccer team match. our team members were Steven, Seunghyun, Enzo, lucas, junhyuk, shogo, toma, tyler and be. But tyler didn’t came because of the hand foot mouth disease.
From the start we had a trouble. We went on the wrong bus and we went all around singapore! But after like 1 hour, we somehow arrived at the field.
We had to have a match quickly. First we versed with LFS. We won by 0:5. I was the goalkeeper. I made nobody score. Then in the next game, we were 2:2. We could have won if I was the goalkeeper for the full time.
The next game, we started to sweep. In the last two games, we one by 5:1. I only allowed the opposite team to score one goal. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! then we went home. It was so fun doing it and I found out that I am so awesome at being a goalkeeper!!!
5.1 SHARING OUR BOARD GAMES WITH K2
BOARD GAMES FOR LITERACY
SARA's Blog Post
My board game's name is Mr.Stink. It was done all by me. I got inspired by the book Mr.Stink.
In my game I got the ideas from other board games that I have played and then I sort of mixed them all together. This game is about people traveling from the start to the finish. Along the way there are some fart bombs, ladders and then there is a sign called, Caught in the rain and if you land on that you have to skip a turn. Nobody helped me making my game. I don't really know what everybody thought of my game but I know that my friends liked it because they have wanted to play it really many times. Like today at snack Panashe asked me if we could play my board game.

The name of the game is 'Board Game', by Jeewoo(me). It's inspired by 'Shadow of the Bull'. I got the ideas from 'Shadow of the Bull', and this game is all about Manolo running away from a bull with 5 men. You have to read when the block says something for example, 'Fight with bull! Miss 2 turns'. You need to go down or up if it says.
I was creative because this is a first time I making my board game and board game rules. Also I was being independent because I made this all by myself.
Here are some of the Math experiments developed by our students. The students have their hypothesis ready, and today we collected data for our individual experiments.
One of the ways to apply our understanding of the novels we read in the Literacy groups, is through board games. The students at 5.1 have been very enthusiastic to create their own board games and share them with each other. Once a week we test these out and everyone has a go.
It turned out that these board games were quite a hit!
Here are board games created by:
Sherrisa: based on her novel: Shadow of the bull
Lixiang: Lunch Money
Ariella: Mr Stink
As our Action, the grade 5s have initiated a drive in the Elementary School to recognize the kindness others show to us. Our action is two fold action: Have all the students of ES think of one person or something they are thankful for; the second is to collect used clothes from all the students. These will be handed over to the Salvation Army on December 18, 2014. Our students have been visiting the other classes to inform them of what is happening.
As of now, we have received very good feedback. This week, we collected quite a huge pile of clothes.
This action also gave our students an opportunity to show leadership in the ES as they visited the classrooms and spoke about our action.
Our current unit of inquiry is into How We Organize Ourselves. To help our students understand our central idea _ Market laces depend on the ability to produce goods and supply services, we did an activity called World on A String.
On Tuesday the 2nd of December, we did a very exciting activity that was related to our unit of inquiry. What we’re suppose to do is to roll strings to the person that presents a certain country.
I represented Switzerland and I sold watches to Gakuto because he presents a country called Albania. After that, Mr Chan put a black Jacket in the middle. It presents economy. We did this in the MS Multi Purpose Hall.
I learned that the trading system won’t be successful if the string broke and the Jacket might be the economy and the strings are holding it up so if 4 of the countries let go of the strings, the economy will fall because they might not have enough money or goods to trade with their trading partner. I also learned that if the country wants to trade goods like chicken, the chicken has to be healthy.
I really enjoyed the activity because we had to guess who was the person that presents the country that we are exporting our goods to.
What better way to learn data handling other than actually collect data .... in the classroom.
PRERITT's blog post:
On Monday during Math we were shown a picture of a carnival. Ms Batlaw said that the carnival needed a new ride for 10-11 year old kids.
The kids had to stand on one leg with their eyes closed and go on the ride. There was a problem because the creator of the ride did not know how long kids could stand one leg.
So we were put in groups of two and each person in the group had to count with a stopwatch and see how long their partners could stand on one leg with their eyes closed. If we stand for more than 3 minutes we have to say the they stood for 180 seconds.
OBSERVATION: Later we observed and found that most of the kids in our class could not stand on one leg with their eyes closed for more than 30 seconds. We also found that only 5 people could stand one leg with their eyes closed out of 21 children! There was only one person in our class who stood on one leg for 147 seconds and the boy’s name was Krishna.
The next day we did the same but this time we did it with our parents.
We found that Seunghyun’s mother could stand on her left leg for 126 seconds!
By doing this activity I learned that Krishna is the best balancer in our class and Seunghyun’s mom in the best balanced parent in our class. I think that was a very good activity and I would like to do more of these activities.
The first girls soccer team in elementary school went to their first soccer match on December 2.
our teammates were ……….
Myself Andjani, Panashe, Sara, Ariella, Maya, Sherrisa, Ava,Floor, Rose. But sadly Ava could not make it because she hurt her foot and had to go to the doctor.
This is how the day went!
Right after school at 2:30 we started soccer practice. We were dribbling, passing and we played a short soccer game with the boys soccer team. We practiced until 3:30 and of we went on the bus to NPS elementary school.
We were feeling really positive and excited when we went on the bus to the the school.
My favorite part of the ride was singing our school cheer that goes like this ‘ were going to come 1st not 2nd not 3rd not 4th, were going to win not lose not tie that score, were gonna beat them bust them thats are custom go ISS! The worst part of the ride was when there was so much traffic and we almost did not make. We stepped out of the bus and got to stretching quickly. We started to get nervous because the teams that were there were really good.
It was our first match we were playing against GESS a german school and german soccer players are really good.
I was a defender which I am really good at but the GESS was good. The results were 0 to us and 3 to them. (0-3) But I was still really happy with our goalie even though she never got the scores she tried her best.
It was our second soccer match and we won by 2 to us and 0 to them (2-0)
The reason I think they lost was because There coach was being really strict and shouting at them and I thought that was giving them pressure.
And I am really happy that we won this match.
Our third match was ok,It wasn't bad but it wasn't great _ it was against the NPS school they were really good players because when they tried to score we tackled, when we try to score they tackled so the whole match results were. 0-0.
Our last and final match was against MCM school. That school was not so great because they didn’t really tackled they didn’t run so fast but still ran and their kicks were not good at all.
That was my favourite match because our results were so good 3 to us and 0 t them (3-0)!!
So that was the story of the first ever soccer match the girls soccer team did.
